There are times when having cerebral palsy is tough. I never know how I am going to feel when I wake up in the morning. This time of year, I experience more chronic pain.
Pain often makes it difficult to function every day. I don’t want to shower or do much of anything when the pain is overwhelming. There is nothing in my life that chronic pain doesn’t affect.
Spasticity can cause difficulty with completing activities of daily living. For me, spasticity makes dressing, toileting, and showering difficult. The amount of spasticity I am experiencing can change throughout the day as well. Factors such as the weather, my mood, and fatigue all affect my spasticity.
Winter is my least favorite season. Cold temperatures make it difficult for me to move around. I don’t like to spend much time outside when it is cold. The same is true for the summer. Too much time outdoors in extreme temperatures can lead to increased pain.
Some days with Cerebral Palsy are harder than others. I do the best I can and try to remain positive. Taking one day at a time makes living with CP easier.
