Happy Mother’s Day!

Happy Mother’s Day to all of the moms, stepmoms, bonus moms, aunts, grandmothers and mother figures out there. I’m fortunate to have two wonderful moms, along with two loving grandmothers and several cherished aunts. My moms have always been there for me.

They were the ones who took me to St. Louis for my Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy in 2005, outpatient PT appointments, and to Children’s Hospital Boston numerous times since 2009. They did this while working full time and raising their two daughters.

In between medical appointments, my moms packed me lunches, helped me with my homework, made dinners, drove me to school, read me bedtime stories, and always made sure that I knew I was loved. I never doubted that I was loved very much by both of them.

I never could repay them the unconditional love and support they have shown me. They have worked so hard to allow me to be where I am today. My parents have always made sure that I had food to eat, a place to call home, and clothes on my back. I love them both dearly and am fortunate that they adopted me. Blood doesn’t always make a family; love is what truly makes a family.

I am forever grateful to my moms for all of their love. It is difficult to express in words just how much I love both of them. As Agatha Christie once said, “A mother’s love for her child is like nothing else in the world. It knows no law, no pity.” I hope that my moms know how much I love them today and every day.

  1. Grace, you have been blessed with 2 loving and supportive mothers. You in turn have been a blessing to them.
